Free tools and guides to plan a wedding in the United States.
AltarPlan is a free website for planning a wedding in the United States. We started with three free tools: the marriage license by county, the wedding planning checklist by date and the wedding budget calculator with cost per guest. AltarPlan is also available in Spanish: AltarPlan en español.
How we work
- Official sources. Marriage license data comes from official sources, and each item shows the date it was reviewed. Right now we have 18 counties with a verified guide, plus the rules for each state.
- Human review. A person reviews and approves every guide before it is published.
- No account, no tracking. The tools run in your browser and need no sign-up. We only measure visits with Google Analytics if you accept, and never on the checklist, the budget calculator or the marriage license search.
How we use AI
We use AI tools to support design and writing. A person reviews and approves every guide, and data is checked against official sources.
What we are not
AltarPlan is not a government agency, does not issue licenses or official documents and does not give legal advice. The information is a general guide: always confirm with your county office. If you find outdated information, let us know and we'll review it.
